Beware of Suicide bombers’ New Tactic of Evading Detection- DHQ

Image
Attention of the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), has been drawn to a new tactic being adopted by female suicide bombers in the North East.  Female suicide bombers are now evading detection from security operatives by carrying babies on their back, that ordinarily pass them for innocent nursing mothers.  The two recent suicide bomb attacks in Madagali, Adamawa State are instructive in this regard. The DHQ wishes to seize this opportunity to appeal to members of the public to be patient and cooperate with the military and other security agencies while carrying out thorough security search and checks as the essence is to nip in the bud the murderous intention of the Boko Haram suicide bombers.  The DHQ wishes to state further that the usual traffic “go-slow” at military and security check points as a result of rigorous security checks are not meant to cause public discomfort or a deliberate action to induce traffic disruptions on our roads, but an effort put in place towards protecting

Inadequate budget allocation bane of Health sector- NMA

Image
The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) on Friday appealed to the Federal Government to increase budgetary allocation to the health sector to improve healthcare delivery in the country. Dr Aniekeme Uwah, NMA South-South Caucus Chairman, made the appeal in an interview with our correspondent. Uwah, who also spoke on the association’s forthcoming South-South Retreat, said that the challenges confronting the nation’s healthcare delivery were due to inadequate budgetary provision for the sector. Uwah noted that an African Heads of State Summit held in Abuja in 2001 agreed that at least 15 per cent of national budget of African countries be allocated to health. He said that Nigeria had never allocated more than six per cent of its budget to the health sector. “That is why you see that doctors in the South-South going on strike because budgetary allocation is not up to what they expect from the Federal Government,’’ the NMA chairman said. He recalled that the National Council o

Fayose spoke in Abuja on Thursday at the Expanded National Caucus of the PDP. He appealed to members of the PDP to remain steadfast and urged them not to be intimidated by the spate of “arrests, incarceration, intimidation, provocation by the party in government.” With the dwindling fortunes of Nigerians, he said, the country was already tired of the APC and was now yearning for another change. He said, “The whole country is not only tired of the ruling party, they want another change. If not for the constitution, they want the change tomorrow.” Fayose regretted that people did not seem to learn from the past as he noted that “the same party tha

‘Accidental Bombing By Nigeria Airforce Is Not A True Reflection Of Professionalism’ -Lai Mohammed

Image
The accidental bombing of a civilian community in Borno state is not a true reflection of the level of professionalism in the Nigeria air force, Lai Mohammed, Minister of information has said. Mohammed, who recently led members of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group and the media to Yola, where the air component of the fight against Boko Haram is based, said he “was particularly saddened because the accidental bombing is not a true reflection of the level of professionalism that he witnessed during the visit”. Manchester United pressure not like Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea – Jones

Image
Phil Jones has told The Times the pressure at Manchester United is on a different level to that at Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham. Jones, 24, joined United from Blackburn in 2011 and, while he has often found himself on the fringes of the first team amid concerns over his fitness, he has established himself as a key part of Jose Mourinho’s side over recent weeks. The England international said he is relishing Sunday’s game against Liverpool, telling the newspaper: “The atmosphere is like no other game. When I’m in the tunnel at Old Trafford before the game, I know that not only am I ready for battle but 80,000 fans are ready to battle with me.” Preston-born Jones — who joined Marcos Rojo and Michael Carrick among the away fans at Anfield last year — said he relishes being part of the club. “United are in my DNA now, my club now, hopefully my club for many more years,” he says. “When you sign for United, you automatically become a fan. Zlatan complete; Neymar the future – Pogba

Image
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has said he thinks Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a complete player and Barcelona’s Neymar is the future. Ibrahimovic is set to return for Sunday’s crunch clash against Liverpool after illness and the team are now finding their feet under Jose Mourinho after a mixed start to the season. Pogba admitted he plays well with Ibrahimovic. As a duo, they have created the most chances for each other — 25 goal scoring opportunities. “We get on a lot. I try to adapt to him and his movements. I think he tries to adapt to me as well. I’m more adapting than he is because he’s the striker and makes the movements,” Pogba told ESPN Brazil’s Joao Castelo-Branco. “He can hold it, he is a complete striker. He helps the team a lot.” Reminded that Ibrahimovic said the two had a good relationship “because he talks and you [Pogba] listen,” the France international said: “If he gives me advice, I listen to him. If I give him advice, I don’t know if he’ll listen! He’s
